After nearly three decades as a financial director at an industry-leading consumer products company, East Hampton based Elizabeth Salas transitioned to a right brain-driven phase of her life as a full-time artist. Coming from an artistic family involved in fashion, TV and painting, Salas soon developed an eye for the beauty and aesthetics present in all things. Her first passion as a child was for the artistry of pastry and later on, frequenting museums and art galleries, she was swept off her feet by Impressionism and her favorite artist, Van Gogh. While grounded in her business career, Salas found it impossible to resist her call and started studying art. Painting opened her eyes to what was around her, and she had never been as in the moment as when in front of the canvas. Her true talent bloomed and she dove into her foray as a painter. When it comes to inspiration, Salas looks at fashion and decorating shows. She borrows the glamour of the season’s colors and the sophistication of the latest trends to compose her unique pieces. Elizabeth Salas is a featured artist at Artexpo New York 2018 where she is going to present her exclusive collections: The Gilded Ocean and Diamond series. “I am following my heart and connecting to the inner artist in me by exploring how colors, shapes, and movements of the brush impacts emotions, memories and interaction with the present moment.”
